Bingo! Found the Dress!

by Melissa

In the past I would have put off the task of finding a dress to the very last minute.  I've been known to worry for months before a show only to wait until the day before to find a costume.  I was a total ball of stress..  With the help of Matt and Lauren I was able to push through all of my inhibitions and narrow down what I was looking for.  The theme of the next 9 weeks for me is collaboration.  Why suffer when you can call on the people closest to you to cheer you on and make things happen?  I went to the Betsey Johnson outlet on my own and found not 1 but 2 dresses that I can alter and make perfect for my upcoming Valentines Day Concert in Montana.  I feel empowered because of how prepared I am.  I can actually concentrate on enjoying myself and sharing great music and dance with the audience.  In my mind I'm already celebrating how beautiful my dance partner and I are going to look and feel.  Go team greatness!!

Shopping for Stardom

Today we had an incredible evening looking for dresses for Miss Melissa! She was determined to find the perfect simple black dress for her upcoming tap piece. Black, beautiful and perfect. We searched high and low for it and to unfortunately could not find it :( However, during the search, it was clear there were many lessons to learn.

We instantly recognized a comparison between relationships and shopping. Just like shopping for a dress, we seem to shop for our life partners. Going into different stores, trying them on, taking them off until finally you find the one that makes you feel like a queen. During the search, there are those that fit and those that don't but sometimes you can find the Cinderella dream dress where you least expect it!

We also saw the importance of patience, time and money. From BCBG to Macy's we scoured the Glendale Galleria and walked away happily empty handed. A feathered fancy number ran at $780 dollars! Meanwhile, JCPenny's carried their low end prom dresses for a special of 29.99, but what is value really worth theses days?

Cleaning Up Space and Soul

by Lauren

Sometimes we just need to clean our place, but sometimes our place can be the biggest obstacles.
We can get comfortable in our mess as we make due in the chaos.
So was the case for me.

I recently moved into my new place in Los Angeles. My family has spent both time and money improving the place and it was finally ready. I packed all of my stuff in a flurry of excitement and dropped it into the the living room. The boxes piled and spilled over onto the floor. When I would expect a guest, I would push them all to the side, hoping someone would praise me about how well I was moving in. The truth is, it has been nearly 3 weeks and those boxes handed been unpacked. Yeah, they had been reshuffled and moved around, as to suggest activity, but nothing really substantial. I was really struggling with it. It was incredibly annoying. I was resisting unpacking with all of my might. I knew that when it came to my week in our group, I had a task for the group to help me on. Organize my boxes.

Sure enough, on Saturday morning, my team arrived and helped me push through. "What is this?" Matt exclaimed, holding up an unidentified object. Before I could even get an answer out, it was tossed away, either into the donate, recycling or waste bins. We laughed and played and what seemed to be made a hard task was in fact made quick fun and enjoyable by my greatness group.

I was so inspired by the session, that the next day I went to donate all of the things in the donate pile, I bought organizing units and am on my way to a cleaner and more creative space.

Thanks you Matt and Melissa!
